Featured Project

“Donohue” dining room table is made in Maple and features a torsion box design to give the top the necessary stiffness without the use of more traditional aprons – which limit “thigh space.” Also, the lack of aprons presents a challenge for attaching the legs. The significantly smaller contact area between the legs and the top would create a weak joint if not for the incorporation of a steel plate in the leg attached to a hardened bolt deep inside the torsion box. At nearly 150 pounds, this delicate looking table is unbelievably rigid and stable and it was a joyful challenge to design and build.
