The Process
Commissions are collaborative in nature, starting with an e-mail or phone call about your specific needs, ideas, and budget for the project. I will explore design ideas with you until we reach agreement on the conceptual design, and an estimated price and timeline.
Following our initial conversations, and your decision to move forward with me, a design fee is normally charged at 10% of the project estimate and is requested up-front to start the detailed design process. This serves as a commitment to progress and is credited to the final invoice. We’ll continue to work very closely in the creation of a detailed design. Once achieved, I’ll prepare a price and schedule proposal that includes detailed drawings and photo-realistic renderings of your custom piece. At the end of the design process and with the your agreement on the proposed terms, the first 50% of the final invoice will be requested. The outstanding amount will be requested on completion of the project, in time for the agreed delivery date.
I combine my craftsmanship using timeless woodworking techniques and methods to create one of a kind, bespoke furniture pieces with exceptional quality and finish. Throughout the making, I will provide regular updates and in-process photos.
Local delivery within 50 miles of Basye, VA is free. Beyond that, within a day’s drive, I will arrange private, white glove delivery. World-wide delivery will be arranged through reputable carriers.
